Composite manufacture is not taught in school and is a specialized technology.  Royal has developed a system of hiring and training people who will progress to work at aerospace grade in composites, which are fiber reinforced plastic parts. Composite manufacture is a specialized technology and we find few experienced people in central Nebraska.  As a result we have developed procedures to systematically train and promote capable people.   Lay-up techs lay plies of resin impregnated fabric onto a mold according to specific written instructions.  Cure technicians cure these lay-ups, maintaining accurate records on computerized ovens/autoclaves while curing under vacuum.  Finishers take the cured assemblies and trim, drill and paint according to aerospace standards and tolerances.  Royal has a ‘promote from within’ culture so most of CNC mills and production supervision have been promoted from the floor.
